Dead Pelt | 2002

Dead Pelt (2002) is an elaborate coat and accessories fabricated from the pelts of four hundred artificially intelligent Furbies, the same toys whose electronic parts are used in the creation of The Pool of Reflection Loop (2001). Apropos the outrageous consumer culture in which Americans lived during the early 2000s, Dead Pelt is styled after one of consumerism's greatest icons: Santa.

Dead Pelt was exhibited as part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival (2002) and Fetish: The Human Fantastic (2002).  Dead Pelt is the second of three installations comprising Bibiota, funded by Creative Capital and The Art Interactive.
